Football Medical Association 'extremely disappointed' by Carneiro's Chelsea exit

The 42-year-old left her position at club doctor at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday but was offered "full support" by the FMA after her role was downgraded in August
The Football Medical Association admits it is “extremely disappointed” after Eva Carneiro left her position as Chelsea’s club doctor on Tuesday.

Carneiro’s role at Stamford Bridge was downgraded in August after she and physiotherapist Jon Fearn were branded “naive” by Jose Mourinho for running onto the pitch to treat Eden Hazard during the 2-2 draw with Swansea City.

The Football Association is also investigating a complaint that Mourinho used abusive language towards Carneiro during the incident. The Chelsea manager has denied the accusation.

"The FMA is extremely disappointed that Dr Eva Carneiro will not be resuming her full duties as first-team doctor at Chelsea Football Club,” read a statement from the FMA.

"Having recently been contacted by Eva, we have offered our full support in attempting to negotiate a satisfactory outcome. Unfortunately this has not resulted in our preferred outcome.

“Chelsea considers this now to be an internal matter and it is for Chelsea and Eva’s appointed lawyers to discuss any further action.”
