Heartland continue pre season tour in PortHarcourt

Nigeria Professional Football League outfit, Heartland will
continue their pre-season training in Port Harcourt ahead of
the 2016 Nigeria topflight kickoff.

The Naze Millionaires have been training in their Owerri base
since the first week of January, where they also organized a
screening exercise to select new players ahead of the new
season which begins on February 21.

They finished their screening exercise in the third week of
January, and club sources have informed Goal that the team
will now leave for Port Harcourt on Thursday, February 3,
where they stay for two weeks, before returning on February
19.

The club has refused to disclose the number of new signings
made, but Goal understands that 24 players from last
season have been retained.

The five-time Nigerian champions have struggled in the
league over the last two decades, with their last league
triumph coming in 1993, when they were known as
Iwuanyanwu Nationale.

They will open their 2016 campaign with a potentially tricky
home fixture against Nigeria’s second Caf Champions
League representative, Warri Wolves.
