As returns to former clubs go, Florian Thauvin's first game
back at Marseille could have gone a bit smoother.
Despite only joining Newcastle United in a £12 million deal
last August, the 23-year-old winger was packed back off to
Ligue 1 on loan having played just 420 minutes of Premier
League football.
Thauvin made his second Marseille debut as a substitute on
Tuesday evening - but after just 10 minutes, he was heading
back down the tunnel.
Thauvin entered the fray after 59 minutes, with Marseille's
Ligue 1 clash with Montpellier still goalless.
Georges-Kevin Nkoudou gave Michel's side the lead a few
moments later, but that strike was followed almost
immediately by Thauvin's red card for a lunging tackle.
Marseille managed to hold on for all three points, but
Thauvin now faces more time on the sidelines after leaving
Newcastle in order to secure regular first-team football.
