'Zidane is ruthless and a Human god'

Raymond Domenech says Zinedine Zidane is "not a nice
guy" and believes his ruthlessness makes him a "human
god".

The new Real Madrid coach played under Domenech at the
2006 World Cup, where he was infamously sent off in the
final for headbutting Marco Materazzi.

Domenech believes Zidane's "myth" will give him a chance
of being successful at the Santiago Bernabeu but says he
will not be afforded time as a result of his reputation if
results are not good.

"Zidane is a myth," the 63-year-old told Le Monde . "A myth
capable of setting off emotions in people, and not only
positive ones.

"He's not a smooth star, he's not a nice guy. He's capable
of anything and that's what makes him a human god."

He added: "From now on, Zidane will be judged on his
results. If he's a champion, his legend will reinforce itself.

"But if that's not the case, it will be another story. [Former
Chelsea manager Jose] Mourinho was a god too and we see
what's happened to him. Sport is ruthless."

Should Zidane prove a success in management, Domenech
sees him as the natural successor to Didier Deschamps as
France coach.

"There's no-one more legitimate than him to replace Didier
Deschamps," he said.

"And the day that Didier stops, he will take over from
him. But for that to happen, he had to go to Real Madrid."
