NPFL: Sharks 2-1 Warri Wolves

Sharks defeated Warri Wolves 2-1 in a Nigeria Professional Football League Week 20 tie played at the Sharks Stadium.

Goals from Frederick Obomate and Chiamaka Madu helped coach Festus Allen's men out of the relegation zone.

The Blue Angels started brightly at the Sharks Stadium against their opponents, but failed to make their various opening close efforts count.

Until in the 26th minute, Obomate netted the deserved opener for Sharks after he fired home from a free kick spot with a sterling beauty.

Visitors brought on Ikechukwu Ibenegbu for injured Onyekachi Okafor, before Onamado wasted a close chance in the 38th minute.

In the 40th minute, Madu converted his side's dominance using the width of the pitch and doubled the lead for Sharks to ensure the hosts end the first half on a 2-0 advantage.

On resuming the other half, Egbeta with a long range strike tested Sharks' goalkeeper Charles Thambe, who smartly tipped it over the bar.

Warri Wolves remain resolute in their push for a comeback, but the Sharks' back line screwed up by packing the box.

Abu Azeez had a good scoring chance, but failed to pull through, while Ebong finally pulled one back for 2-1 to raise the comeback prospect for Wolves from a rebound.

The hosts' keeper Thambe and his defenders were the heroes as Sharks kept their visitors at bay to secure a hard fought 2-1 victory.
