Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has heaped praise on former Arsenal
skipper Patrick Vieira and also stated that the Frenchman has the
credentials to become a successful manager.
Though he also mentioned that Manchester City already have a coach of high calibre [Manuel Pellegrini].
Pellegrini’s future at the Etihad is in serious doubt after series of poor performance by his side that saw them slip from second spot on the Premier League table to fourth behind Arsenal and Manchester United.
Ongoing speculation suggests that Patrick Viera might be considered as the successor of the Chilean manager.
Wenger was asked about this possibility at his latest press conference but, while backing Vieira’s ability, did not want to be drawn into the matter.
Wenger said of Vieira: “I believe like many other players he has the intelligence and the competence to do this job, but I believe that Pellegrini is of super-competence and super-quality as well – so if you want me to interfere in that, I am not ready to do it.”
