The Nigeria international has left Seattle Sounders to join the Chinese side where he would team up with Senegalese forward Ba Obafemi Martins has completed a move to Shanghai Shenhua, BBC has announced.
The 31-year-old Nigerian, who previously spent time with Spanish club Levanteog, joins Shanghai from Major Soccer League outfit Seattle Sounders.
Martins made 84 appearances for Sounders, netting 43 goals in the American topflight during his time at the CenturyLink Field, including helping the club win the 2014Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and MLS Supporters' Shield, along making the MLS All Star in 2015.
Shanghai Shenhua, who won the Chinese FA Super Cup in 1995, 1998 and 2001, are currently sixth on the table under the stewardship of coach Gregorio Manzano.
The Shanghai based team boast of Senegalese striker Demba Ba in their fold, while Zambia’s Stoppila Sunzu has been loaned out to OSC Lille for the rest of the year.
