Kano Pillars defeated Supreme Court to 2-1 emerge champions of this year’s edition of Gold Cup invitational football tournament held in Ijebu Ode.
Goals from Omo Johnson and Rabiu Ali helped Mohammed Baba Ganaru's men see off the Apex Court's Boys at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium on Friday.
The former Nigerian league champions grabbed their lead in the 23rd minute through Johnson while Ali doubled up in the 39th minute from a penalty spot.
However, Mubarak Saidu pulled one back for the Nigerian National League side but failed to level up as the Sai Masu Gida held on to nick the title.
Meanwhile, Kano Pillars' new signing Omo Johnson nicked the top scorer award with three goals, while Supreme Court's Mubarak Saidu was named the Most Valuable Player.
Aside the finalists, the one-week long tournament featured nine teams like Lobi Stars, Giwa FC, COD United, FC Ebedei, Remo Stars, Crown FC and Imperial FC.
Pillars will begin campaign to reclaim the league title against Enugu Rangers at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano on February 21.
