CHAN RE CAP: MALI, GUINEA THROUGH TO SEMI-FINAL


TUNISIA 1-2 MALI

Mali have reached the semifinal of the 2016 African Nations
Championship after defeating former champions Tunisia 2-1
on Sunday.

Les Aigles came from a goal down to shock the north
Africans in the keenly contested affair in Kigali.

The Carthage Eagles started well and raced into the lead
after 14 minutes through CS Sfaxien midfielder Monser who
headed home a cross from Saad Bguir past Mali goalkeeper
Djigui Diarra.

They held on to the lead until the 71st minute when Aliou
Dieng restored parity by converting a penalty.

Abdoulaye Diarra scored the winner on 80 minutes after
curling past Tunisia’s Rami Jeridi.

Mali will play Cote d’Ivoire for a place at the final on
Thursday in Kigali.

ZAMBIA 0 (4-5 PEN) 0 GUINEA

Guinea scaled through to the semi-final of the African
Nations Championship after defeating Zambia 5-4 on
penalties.

With the game ending 0-0 at regulation time and after extra
time, both teams were separated from lottery from the
penalty spots.

Raiford Kalaba, Stephen Kabamba, Daut Musekwa missed
their kicks for the Chipolopolo while Lass Bangoura,
Mohammed Thiam, Dembe Camara, Ibrahima Souma and
goalkeeper Aziz Keita converted theirs to send the Syli
Nationale to the last four.

Guinea face DR Congo in the semifinal on Wednesday at the
Amahoro Stadium, Kigali.
