Arsenal's Debuchy joins Bordeaux on Loan

Bordeaux have confirmed that they have signed Arsenal
right-back Mathieu Debuchy on loan until the end of the
season.

Unable to break into the Gunners' starting XI, the defender
had previously indicated his desire to move away from the
Emirates Stadium temporarily to allow him to chase his
dream of playing Euro 2016 in his homeland.

Debuchy, who joined Arsenal from Newcastle in the summer
of 2014, had made a positive start to his Arsenal career
before two serious shoulder injuries presented Hector
Bellerin with an opportunity which he has seized with both
hands.

The 30-year-old has not featured for Arsenal since
November's Champions League win over Dynamo Zagreb
and had been a target for a number of Premier League
strugglers including Sunderland and Aston Villa.

The former Lille fullback had been France's first choice right-
back at the 2014 World Cup but faces stiff competition from
the likes of Bacary Sagna and Lucas Digne to ensure he is
part of Didier Deschamps' Euro 2016 squad.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had previously appeared
reluctant to let Debuchy leave this winter but may have
softened his stance after Calum Chambers' impressive
display in Saturday's 2-1 win over Burnley in the fourth
round of the FA Cup.
