Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has told Yaya
Toure to ignore agent-driven talk about his future and
concentrate on being successful at the Etihad Stadium this
season.
Toure's representative, Dimitri Seluk, sparked more debate
about the midfielder's commitment to the club by claiming
that a summer move is a possibility.
Clubs in the Chinese Super League are said to have made
massive contract offers - worth in the region of £300,000 per
week - to the Ivory Coast midfielder.
But Pellegrini says that his players must be motivated by
the challenge at hand and not the thought of lucrative
transfers.
"I think that for Yaya and for every player the most importnat
thing is to think in the present, in this moment, the next
game," he told reporters. "At the end of season you never
know what will happen with anyone.
"It is very important not to think about your future. It is
important to demonstrate why you are here at Manchester
City and the most important thing is to try to win the title
this season. After that the future can be different."
Pellegrini, as has become customary when asked about any
potential arrivals at the Etihad Stadium, also refused to
discuss rumours that Everton's Ross Barkley is a target for
the club.
But he did insist that the England midfielder, nor any other
players, are being considered this month.
"I don't talk about rumours because we could have a very
long press conference every week about different players
that will arrive here," he added.
"I am very happy with the squad. We are not thinking about
bringing in any players or selling any other players. I don't
want to talk about individual names."
