Manchester United are considering appointing a director of
football in a bid to shake up their struggling academy,
according to The Sun .
The Red Devils are concerned by the way they have fallen
behind neighbours Manchester City at youth level, with the
state-of-the-art City Football Academy opening at the end of
2014.
360 Metro Sports gathered that One candidate for the new role is Dan Ashworth, who is
currently the Football Association's director of elite
development and was formerly the technical director at West
Brom.
Nicky Butt has reportedly been earmarked for a senior role in
the new setup but United are waiting on the former
midfielder to accept their offer.
