Gareth Bale moved a step closer to a Real Madrid return on
Tuesday after undergoing individual training exercises.
A calf injury kept the Wales international out of the 1-1 draw
at Real Betis at the weekend, with Barcelona now four points
ahead of Madrid in La Liga with a game in hand.
Bale could be back in the side against Espanyol on Sunday
and tweeted on Tuesday afternoon: "Steadily strengthening…
Getting closer to the pitch!"
Madrid later confirmed Bale's return to training in an
individual capacity.
"Real Madrid returned to training and went through a session
focused on physical work," an update on the club's official
website reads.
"The main story was the presence of Gareth Bale training
alone back out on the field. The Welshman did some
running and specific exercises in the sand, both with and
without the ball."
