League Management Company has commenced process to
pay the outstanding salaries owed protesting players of FC
Taraba.
Players of the Pride of Jalingo have been protesting their
unpaid salaries and allowances in nearly 11 months outside
the state government house in Jalingo for some days.
But the chief operation officer of the LMC, Salisu Abubakar
has told Goal, that the LMC has resolved to pay the players
directly from the team's entitlements in its coffers.
"On FC Taraba, we have told them despite they have
gone down to the lower league but we still have money that
is supposed to be paid to them," Abubakar told Goal.
"We have wrote them that the money that is for the club, we
are not paying the team, but directly to the players.
"Let us know the obligation of the players and to give us
their accounts as soon as we receive their reply on that, we
are paying the players directly from the LMC.
He further said that the necessary process in progress to
prepare the Nigerian clubs for the upcoming continental
competitions next year.
The LMC official assured that move to review the legal
framework of the topflight league, adopting inputs from
relevant stakeholders and the NFF.
"We have already had meeting with those clubs in the Caf
interclub competitions. Expectation, licenses and all the
things they need to execute the competition.
"From our end, they have satisfied the condition. Caf has the
right to come checking on facilities to determine how well
they are ready.
"At the end of every season, we ask for inputs from all
stakeholders, the active participates the clubs, the match
officials, the FAs, even the NFF.
"We ask about the regulations we've used in the past
season and where we need to amend. how do we improve
on the what do you think we should amend.
"The game is dynamic and managing it is going to be
dynamic. During the course of the season, people tried to
take advantage of the loopholes. We will try as much
possible we will block the loopholes.
"Welfare of players is critical and key in our work as LMC.
When we came in we raised the minimum pay of the players
from about 20,000 to 150,000.
"We ensure that they pay, that's why the regulation captured
all this. Next season we are going to put a in place will
check all this," he concluded.
