NPFL WEEK 35 ROUND UP: GIWA ADD TO WARRI WOLVES, ENYIMBA WORRIES AFTER WIN OVER WIKKI

The Jos Elephants' dramatic late entrance into the
title chase is now serious concern for both the
Seasiders and the People’s Elephant as the NPFL
hits home stretch

DOLPHINS 2-0 EL KANEMI WARRIORS
The Pride of Rivers rose to 16 on the log from 35 matches
after they beat El Kanemi Warriors 2-0 at the Liberation
Stadium, Port Harcourt, for their second consecutive league
win this season. It is their 41 point of the season.
Godbless Asamoah got the second goal for Dolphins for his
third goal from the last two matches before he was
withdrawn after he sustained an injury.
El Kanemi are fast slipping into the relegation zone as they
are now 14 on the league table with 43 points from 34
matches. They are only three points away from the drop.

GIWA 3-2 WIKKI TOURISTS
The Jos Elephants won the top of the table fixture in Jos
after they came back twice to secure the all important three
points against the Bauchi side.
Idris Sabo put the visitors ahead in the 10 minute but the
home team managed to equalize. Wikki again nicked the
second goal of the match through Harrison Madu in the 38
minute and they went into the halftime 2-1 up.
Giwa got the leveler through Amos Gyan in the second half
and he bagged the all important winning goal few minutes to
the end.
The win has seen Giwa rise to their best spot on the table
this season. They are now second with 60 points from 35
matches while Wikki have slumped to fourth with 57 points
from 35 games. Giwa have garnered 14 points out of a
possible 18 in their last six games. They are unbeaten
during this period also.

FC IFEANYIUBAH 1-0 HEARTLAND
The Anambra Warriors picked three points at the expense of
their neighbours, the Naze Millionaires to remain in 11
spot on the log with 47 points from 34 matches. They still
have an outstanding home game against El Kanemi which
has been ordered to be replayed next week.
Heartland are eighth on the table with 50 points from 35
matches.

SHARKS 2-1 3SC
The Blue Angels recovered from a 0-1 halftime deficit to nick
maximum points under the nose of the Oluyole Warriors in
Port Harcourt on Wednesday evening.
Frederick Obomate’s second half double turned things in
Sharks' favour as they have now moved to 14 on the log
with 42 points from 35 games while 3SC are 10 on the log
with 49 points from 35 matches.

FC TARABA- NASARAWA UNITED (ABANDONED)
Crowd trouble ensured that the game was abandoned with
close to 15 minutes of regulation time remaining at the Jolly
Nyame Stadium in Jalingo on Wednesday evening.
There were several accusations and counter accusations by
the hosts against the match officials led by FIfa-badged
referee, Ferdinard Aniete Udoh and his assistants who were
beaten by the irate home fans for what they termed
questionable refereeing.
FC Taraba are now last on the log with 33 points from 34
matches while Nasarawa United who may benefit from the
impasse are sixth on the log with 53 points from 34 games.

ENYIMBA 1-0 KWARA UNITED
The People’s Elephant cruised to a 1-0 win over the hapless
Harmony Warriors on Wednesday in Aba through the strike
of captain, Chinedu Udoji after he was fed by Ezekiel Bassey
in the 22 minute.
Kwara United tried to come back into the match but they
were unable to stage a fight back. The Ilorin side stays 18
on the log with 36 points from 35 matches while Enyimba
are still on top with 65 points from 35 matches.

BAYELSA UNITED 1-0 ABIA WARRIORS
The Restoration Boys are not going down without a fight
after they held their nerve to beat Abia Warriors 1-0 at the
Oghara Township Stadium on Wednesday.
They have left the foot of the table to 19 with 34 points
from 35 games while Abia Warriors are pretty comfortable
on the log with 50 points from 35 matches. They are placed
ninth on the log.
AKWA UNITED 2-1 SUNSHINE STARS
The Promise Keepers had to dig deep before claiming three
points off desperate Sunshine Stars in Uyo on Wednesday.
Ubong Friday opened the account of goals in the fifth minute
for the hosts but Dele Olorundare equalized for the visitors
10 minutes after the opening goal. Akwa United got the
winning goal through Aniekan Ekpe who scored from the
spot kick in the 51 minute and there was no way back for
the Akure Gunners.
Akwa United are 13 on the log with 43 points from 35
games while Sunshine are on 53 points from 35 matches to
be placed fifth. They are almost sure of missing out on
continental ticket at the end of the season with only three
matches to the end of the season.
KANO PILLARS 2-1 ENUGU RANGERS
Rangers shocked Sai Masu Gida with the curtain raiser in the
first half through Bobby Clement but the reigning league
champions fought back and scored two goals in the second
half after the Flying Antelopes were reduced to 10 due to the
red card issued Emeka Eze for a rough challenge on Pillars’
Murtala Adamu.
Pillars moved to seventh position on the log with 52 points
from 35 games and with seven points adrift of the final
continental ticket slot, they are almost certain of missing a
place in Africa next season for the first time since 2012.
