Borno Army has unfolded a new vista in the battle
for the league crown while Enyimba grabbed an
away point in Lafia
EL KANEMI WARRIORS 1-2 GIWA FC
The Borno Army couldn’t grab the much desired maximum
points which could have guaranteed their topflight safety
against Giwa FC in Katsina after they fell to the Jos
Elephants 2-1.
El Kanemi are still embroiled in controversy regarding their
botched NPFL Week 33 tie against FC IfeanyiUbah but their
latest loss to the Jos side on Wednesday has thrown them
among the possible relegation candidates if they fail to
fasten their seatbelts and target two more victories in the
remaining four matches.
El Kanemi are 13 on the log with 43 points from 33 games
but are only five points away from the drop zone while Giwa
FC have done themselves lots of good with the road win as
they have climbed to third on the log with 57 points from 34
matches.
WIKKI TOURISTS 2-1 FC IFEANYIUBAH
The Bauchi side are still living their dream after they jumped
to second on the spot with 57 points from 34 games after a
narrow 2-1 win over the Anambra Warriors at the Abubakar
Tafawa Balewa Stadium on Wednesday.
It was the ideal result for the Abdu Maikaba led Wikki side
who are only within four matches of landing a continental
ticket as they are now third on the table as against FC
IfeanyiUbah’s 12 spot on the log with 44 points from 33
matches .
HEARTLAND 1-0 SHARKS
The Naze Millionaires pipped their eternal rivals, the Blue
Angels by the odd goal at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri
on Wednesday. It was Fortune Omoniwari who scored
against his former club in the fourth minute of the tie.
The victory lifted them to seventh on the log with 50 points
from 34 games while Sharks are still 16 on the table with
39 points from 34 matches and are only a point away from
the drop zone with four games to the end of the season.
3SC 2-1 FC TARABA
The Oluyole Warriors heaped more misery on the Jalingo
Boys who are almost certain of going down to the lower
league at the end of the season after they beat them 1-0 at
the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan on Wednesday.
3SC now have 50 points from 34 games to be placed 10
on the log while FC Taraba are 19 on the log with 33
points from 34 ties too.
NASARAWA UNITED 0-0 ENYIMBA
The Solid Miners have been pecked back by the ambitious
People’s Elephants in their quest to qualify for the continent
at the end of the season after they were forced to a goalless
draw at home in Lafia on Wednesday.
Nasarawa United had hoped for maximum points which
would have aided their final push for a continental ticket but
they now have a uphill task getting the ticket off the claws of
Wikki Tourists, Warri Wolves and Giwa FC.
The Lafia side are sixth on the log with 53 points from 34
matches while Enyimba are still atop with 62 points from 34
games .
KWARA UNITED 1-1 BAYELSA UNITED
The Harmony Warriors couldn’t make home advantage
count after they allowed fellow relegation haunted
Restoration Boys to get a draw in Ilorin on Wednesday.
Kwara United need more than a miracle to survive the drop
zone purge at the end of the season alongside Bayelsa
United who are also sure to be relegated with four matches
to go despite their heroics in Ilorin.
Kwara United are still 18 on the log with 36 points from 34
matches while Bayelsa United are last with 31 points from
34 matches on the table.
ABIA WARRIORS 2-0 LOBI STARS
The Umuahia side have jumped to eighth on the log with 50
points from 34 matches after a 2-0 home win over the Pride
of Benue on Wednesday who are still 14 on the table with
40 points from 34 games.
Abia Warriors will play another season in the elite division-
third third straight season since they were promoted last
season while Lobi are not sure yet as they are only two
points away from the relegation zone.
DOLPHINS 2-1 KANO PILLARS
Dolphins practically came back from the dead before
dislodging league reigning champions Kano Pillars 2-1 at the
Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
Sai Masu Gida drew the first blood in the 62 minute
through Adamu Hassan but two goals in the final five
minutes of the match from Ghanaian import,Godbless
Asamoah changed the result in favour of the Pride of Rivers.
If Dolphins manage to stay up, they must definitely
remember the heroics of Asamoah whose two goals
guaranteed them the three points at stake.
Dolphins are still 17 on the log with 38 points from 34
matches while Pillars are ninth with 49 points from 34
matches. The Port Harcourt side will fancy their chances of
another season in the premier league with another home
game against El Kanemi Warriors this weekend while hoping
that those before them stumble in subsequent matches.
