The Championship club and the Football Association suspended Livermore after the former Tottenham player failed a drug test in May, pending a disciplinary hearing.
The hearing took place last week, and it is understood that it was decided Livermore would not face a ban.
Livermore, who has been capped by England, received the verdict of the test shortly after the death of his newborn child, and Steve Bruce believes “there is no question it was a mitigating factor”.
He added: "Unfortunately he lost his baby just after the FA Cup final last year.
"Jake has kept all of the problems that he had to himself. All footballers think they are macho-men but they have problems like everybody else."
Livermore made 39 appearances in all competitions for Hull last season.
