Nigera U23 coach Samson Siasia was left fuming after his wards contrived to miss several opportunities to score as they drew 1-1 with Senegal in their final Group B game at the All Africa Games.
Ibrahima Keita put the Senegalese in front in the 82nd minute before Mustapha Abdullahi scored for the Nigerians a minute before regulation time.
The Dream Team VI finished as group leaders but their coach has vowed to search for goal scorers if the present strikers continue to waste begging chances at goal.
"There was no need for us to labour till some few minutes to the end of the match before we wrapped up our game with Senegal if my strikers had converted the begging chances they had in the game,” Siasia told Goal.
"In as much as I have absolute confidence in my players, I think I need to encourage competition for places in the team. I would extend invitations to more players, most especially strikers, to compete for shirts in the team because how do we win matches if we don't score?
"After the All Africa Games there is more work to be done and I and my technical crew are ready to take the bull by the horns and do what is right to win laurels for Nigeria", Siasia assured.
Nigeria are through to the semi finals of the competition where they are likely to face the winner between Burkina Faso and Sudan from Group A.
Hosts Congo, who lead Group A going into the last matches on Sunday, will take on Senegal in the semi final.
Defending champions Ghana were eliminated from the tournament following their 2-0 defeat to Nigeria after their opening goalless draw with Senegal.
