Aston Villa have completed the signing of Adama Traore from Barcelona, both clubs have confirmed.

The 19-year-old winger, who made just four senior appearances for the Catalan giants, has signed a five-year contract at Villa Park after the clubs agreed a deal worth €10 million plus a potential €2m in add-ons.

Barca reserve the right to buy Adama back for an agreed price at any point in the first three years of his deal and retain first option on the youngster for any future transfer from Villa.

"It's an honour for me to come here," Adama told Villa's official website. "It's a club that showed interest in me from the first moment and made me feel important in terms of their project.

"I have spoken to the manager and have a very good impression of him and what he wants from me. All this have made this club my top attraction.

"I would also like to express my gratitude to everyone at FC Barcelona for helping me develop as a player and as a person."

"He's someone I have been tracking for a long time," boss Tim Sherwood added.

"He's physically a man - and he has been for some time. He's a big powerful boy, very quick, dynamic and a maverick-type player. Those players are few and far between.

"We're delighted he has chosen Villa to continue his development."

Adama becomes the ninth senior signing of a busy summer for Villa, joining Micah Richards, Idrissa Gueye, Scott Sinclair, Jordan Veretout, Jordan Ayew, Jordan Amavi, Jose Angel Crespo and Rudy Gestede in the Midlands.

Significant reinforcements were required after key players Ron Vlaar, Fabian Delph and Christian Benteke all departed Sherwood's squad this summer.
