Sierra Leone and defending champions of
the AFCON title, Ivory Coast will be playing their Group I AFCON 2017
qualifiers match in Nigeria on September 6.
Due to the ban on hosting international matches in the West African
country, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast will be played at the Teslim
Balogun stadium.
The Leone Stars played their 2015 Nations Cup qualifiers in Abidjan, Ivory Coast after securing a venue.
The Lagos State FA will provide stadium and medical facilities while the Sierra Leone association will
Nigeria Football Federation officials have told BBC Sports they are happy to help and insist Sierra Leone. Ghanaian coach Sellas Tetteh, will be handling his first game as Sierra Leone boss after his appointment as caretaker coach.
This will be the second qualifiers match for the team teams. The Leone stars lost their opening qualifier game 1-0 to Group I opponents Sudan in June, during John Jebbor Sherington’s stint as caretaker coach.
As at the time of writing this report, Sierra Leone last reported a case of Ebola infection 35 days ago but the country has not been officially declared free of the deadly disease.
