Manchester United striker Robin van Persie
Lazio will not be signing Robin van Persie from Manchester United this summer, while Miroslav Klose is set to stay at the club, according to sporting director Igli Tare.

Netherlands international Van Persie faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford, as he says he will not settle for a spot on the bench next seasonand reports have emerged that Louis van Gaal is willing to offload the striker in a bid to restructure his forward line.

The Serie A side have been touted as a possible destination and the striker was spotted in Rome the day after Netherlands lost 4-3 to United States. However, president Claudio Lotito dismissed such rumours as "bullshit".

Tare echoed the president's sentiments, saying that Van Persie is not on Lazio's radar, before adding that Klose is set to stay at Stadio Olimpico as they prepare to play in the Champions League next season.

"I can only say that I respect Van Persie as a striker, but unfortunately he is outside of our parameters," Tare told Lazio Style Radio. "There was never any meeting.

"Klose has decided to continue his adventure with Lazio, it's a sign of his great attachment to the club and to the fans."

Tare also confirmed that Lazio have signed Barcelona B right-back Patric and that a meeting will be held with head coach Stefano Pioli to discuss other transfer targets.
