Murray pulls out of Rome Masters

British number one Andy Murray explains why he has withdrawn from the Rome Masters
Andy Murray has withdrawn from the Rome Masters due to fatigue.
Murray was due to play David Goffin, who moves into the quarter-finals, on Thursday.
In the past fortnight, Murray won his first clay title at the Munich Open, and then beat Rafael Nadal in Sunday's Madrid Open final for his first Masters trophy on the surface.
"I felt tired this morning," Murray said. "I practiced 40 minutes and felt pretty exhausted.
"It didn't make sense for me to keep going because when you feel like this it becomes a risk to play.
"I'm going to take a few days' rest, not go on the court. We had a proper conversation, weighing up all the pros and cons, but I'm very tired just now and need to take a break.
"There's no long term injuries to worry about. Things are a little bit stiff and sore because of the amount of matches I've played.
"It wasn't just about today's match. It was about the rest of the tournament and further down the line - the possibility of getting sick and missing five, six or seven days."

I'm going to take a few days' rest, not go on the court. We had a proper conversation, weighing up all the pros and cons, but I'm very tired just now and need to take a break.

Andy Murray
He improved his record on clay this year to 10-0 with a 6-4, 6-3 win over 38th-ranked Jeremy Chardy on Wednesday in his opening match at the Foro Italico.
Murray wants to recover in time for the French Open, which begins in 10 days.
Goffin's quarter-final opponent will be seventh-seeded David Ferrer, who defeated Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-1 6-3.
