Karim Rekik, in action for former loan club PSVMarseille have announced they have agreed a deal withManchester City to sign defender Karim Rekik, subject to the defender passing a medical.

Rekik has struggled to break into the Etihad Stadium first-team in recent seasons, making just three appearances for the club, and spending time on loan at Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers.

The 20-year-old has been loaned to PSV twice over the past two seasons, helping the club win the Eredivisie title in 2014-15.

Rekik made 54 league appearances for Philip Cocu's side during his two-year spell in the Netherlands but instead of returning to the Premier League, he is set to move to Ligue 1.

Marseille - who finished fourth last season despite leading the way for much of the campaign - have confirmed the details of the move have been agreed in principle, with Rekik set to undergo a medical before completing the transfer.
