My exit won’t affect Enyimba – Kadiri Ikhana

Former coach of Enyimba, Kadiri Ikhana, has said his exit won’t
affect the Premier League champions as they prepare for the
CAF Champions League.

The competition will kick off in February.

Ikhana, who led Enyimba to their seventh league title and was
looking forward to winning another CAF Champions League with
the club, failed to renew his contract with the Peoples’
Elephants.

“There were no issues. It is the wish of the club. If you want to
know why I left the club, call the club management and they will
tell you,” Ikhana told our correspondent on Tuesday.

“I didn’t leave the club voluntarily. And there is nothing wrong
with my leaving the team at this time because the players have
been together for many years and Enyimba is a name that
everybody knows. I don’t think my exit will affect the team.”

Ikhana added that he had yet to get an offer from any other
club, saying he was open to offers.

“I’m an applicant now. If you have a club, maybe I’ll consider
your offer,” he said.

Warri Wolves coach Paul Aigbogun, Bulgarian Mitko Dobrev, and
Super Eagles assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf, have been touted as
possible replacements for the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations
winner.

Salisu, who claimed he was owed N5m after his first spell with
Enyimba in 2013, told footballlive.ng on Tuesday, that the
Nigeria Football Federation would have to agree to a dual
coaching deal before he could hold concrete discussions with
the Aba club.

Meanwhile, Enyimba have appointed former Giwa assistant
coach Aminu Musa as their assistant coach.

The club’s media officer Farriel Alaputa announced this via
Twitter.

“@EnyimbaFC has appointed former head coach of Giwa FC,
Aminu Musa, as assistant coach. The 46-year-old would
resume immediately,” he tweeted.

Enyimba are expected to name their new manager this week.
