NPFL Match Commissioner Nuhu Tanko Dies of Heart Failure



As a new wave of heart failures sweeps through the football world, the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) had its share of the tragedy on Monday with news that the match commissioner of Kano Pillars v Ikorodu United, Mr Nuhu Tanko, has passed on having succumbed to the disease,Goal reports.
Nasarawa state-born Tanko had successfully supervised the hitch-free NPFL tie played at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday with the hosts coming out 2-1 winners, but was reportedly found dead in his hotel room before being rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Hospital in Kano this morning.
While speaking on the development, media officer of Kano Pillars, Idris Malikawa stated that autopsy reports revealed the late Tanko had died from hypertension.
“It is confirmed. He (Nuhu Tanko) is dead,”Malikawa said.
“He died a natural death. We took him to the hospital this morning and he was confirmed by the medical doctor in charge.
“The doctor said he died of hypertension due to high blood pressure,” he concluded.
The Nigerian league also confirmed the administrator’s death via their Twitter handle (@NPFLHistory).
