Shooting Stars Names Kadiri Ikhana as New Coach

Shooting Stars have confirmed the appointment of Kadiri
Ikhana as the club’s new coach.

Coach Gbenga Ogunbote left the Oluyole Warriors after
leading them to a ninth place finish in the Nigeria topflight.

Consequently, 3SC have now turned to Ikhana, who was
shown the exit door by Enyimba after leading them to a
record seventh Nigeria Professional Football League title.

“He [Ikhana] has been appointed as the technical adviser of
Shooting Stars today and he has started work immediately
and he will be introduced to the players this afternoon,”
media officer Jubril Arowolo confirmed to Goal.

“Someone has to take over from Ogunbote and of all the
candidates that applied for the job, he came out on top.

“Aside from this, he boasts of a very great pedigree having
led Enyimba to win the Caf Champions League as well as
several league titles.

“If Ogunbote could lead the team to a ninth place finish last
season, then we expect more from him to justify his
credentials. So, we hope at the end of the season, he helps
the club get a ticket to play in any of the Caf competitions,”
he concluded.

Shooting Stars begin their Nigeria topflight campaign on
February 21 against Lobi Stars at the Lekan Salami
Stadium, Ibadan.
