League debutants Ikorodu United FC secured their first win of the new season following a 1-0 win over visiting Lobi Stars courtesy Kabir Balogun’s 11th minute strike thus ending the Makurdi-based club’s 100 percent start to the season.
Abia Warriors are the new league leaders after an impressive 1-0 away win at Heartland. Michael Olaha scored the only goal of the game in the 67th minute to give his side all three points. Rivers United made it 2 in 2 at home with a 2-0 win over Ifeanyi Ubah FC courtesy Chigozie Ihunda’s 45th and Frederick Obomate’s 56th minute strike. Frederick Obomate is now the league’s topscorer alongside Wasiu Jimoh of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC).
Former league champions Kano Pillars got the better of Wikki Tourists 2-1 in the battle of the Northern teams at the Sani Abacha Stadium. Prince. Aggrey and Ifeanyi Matthews got the goals for Baba Ganaru’s side while Umar Mubarak got Wikki’s consolation goal from the spot. Enugu Rangers also defeated Niger Tornadoes 2-1 at home while Plateau United handed Warri Wolves their first league defeat of the season with a 2-1 win.
