Mfon Udoh left out of Enyimba Match Day Squad


Nigerian champions Enyimba travelled for their CAF Champions League preliminary round, first leg game against Ugandan champions Vipers without prolific striker, Mfon Udoh, 360 Metro sports gathered .

The People’s Elephants departed the shores of Nigeria on Tuesday aboard an Ethiopian airline flight and arrived in Addis Ababe, before connecting a Kenya Airways flight to Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. They arrived the Entebbe International Airport at around 11.58pm local time and were received by officials of Vipers.

The 23-year old, club according to Goal.com, was left behind due to a ‘minor injury’ and was not part of the 35-man delegation that travelled to Kampala.

The striker scored 23 league goals for Enyimba two seasons ago, to make the highest goal-scorer in a single season in the history of the Nigerian football league, but couldn’t reenact that form last term as he suffered injuries and illnesses which kept him out of games over a long stretch.

He was reported to be on the verge of joining his former club, Akwa United early last month, but has remained with the Enyimba instead.

Meanwhile, the People’s Elephants will have their first
training session on Thursday afternoon at the Buikwe Stadium ahead of the match which happens at 4pm local time on Friday.
