Elderson Echiejile relishes Monaco victory

AS Monaco defender, Elderson Echiejile has expressed delight over his team’s defeat of Troyes in Saturday's Ligue 1 game at Stade Louis II, Monaco.

Guido Carrillo’s brace gave the Red and Whites the lead before substitute Kylian Mbappe made it three after Babacar Gueye pulled one back.

The Nigeria international made his 12th appearance for the club in full minutes of the game as he helped Leonardo Jardim’s men secure their 13th Ligue 1 victory of the season.

The 28-year-old left full-back said that the victory was the most important thing for the club.

“The most important thing was the victory. We could have played better at times,” Echiejile told Complete Sports.

“Today was all about a good start and we went out there and got the win.

“We are still working hard and all that work went into getting the three points against Troyes. We have a few days to go over the things we didn’t do right and we’ll start preparing for Nantes,” he concluded.

Monaco will visit Nantes on Sunday in their next Ligue 1 game in which a win will draw them closer to securing an automatic qualification for next season's Champions League
