Charity Shield billed to hold on Wednesday

 
The traditional curtain-raiser to the league season will take place in Abuja with Enyimba locking horns with Akwa United for the top prize

The Charity Shield between Nigeria Professional Football League winners Enyimba and the Federation Cup holders Akwa United will hold on Wednesday.

The game between Paul Aigbogun’s side, who sealed a seventh Nigeria topflight title, and Maurice Cooreman’s men will be played at the National Stadium, Abuja.

It will be second successive appearance in the traditional curtain-raiser for Enyimba, who spanked Kano Pillars 2-0 to win the last edition.

For the Promise Keepers, this will be their first appearance in the competition having silenced Lobi Stars to win the 2015 Federation Cup.
