Warri Wolves sign Ojobo, Okorowanta to boost Champions League campaign

Warri Wolves have captured Enyimba duo of Markson Ojobo
and Bernard Okorowanta ahead of their campaign in the CAF
Champions League and the Nigerian domestic competitions, a
top official of the Seasiders has told Goal .

Ojobo was hitherto linked with Sunshine Stars before Warri
Wolves stepped in to convince the defender to have a change
of heart while Okorowanta, a former junior international, was
signed after the Seasiders fended off the interest of Akwa
United and Nasarawa United.

Both players are presently with Warri Wolves at their training
camp in Oleh and have been having intensive build up
programmes under the supervision of former Super Falcons
handler, Sam Okpodu who is the club’s new head coach.

Club chairman Moses Etu told Goal that they were delighted to
have the two former Enyimba players and others who have
teamed up with the side with a two legged crucial Champions
League tie against Sao Tome and Principe side, Sporting Praia
Cruz, next month and the forthcoming Super Four and other
competitions lined up in Nigeria.

Etu thumbed up Okorowanta and another new acquisition Okiki
Omonefe who was very impressive during the training session
had on Monday evening. He added that former Nigeria U17
goalkeeper, Dele Ajiboye has been coping well in camp since he
was signed too.

“We have signed Ojobo and Okorowanta while Dele Ajiboye and
Okiki Omonefe have also added to the new players that have
moved to Warri Wolves. We are hoping that their addition would
bring about the needed change in the team this season. It is
our desire to excel in all the competitions we have entered for.

“The glimpses we have got since the training camp
commenced have given us reasons to be optimistic that good
days are here again,” Etu told Goal.

Warri Wolves came second in the league last season with 66
points from 38 matches and are representing Nigeria in the
lucrative Caf Champions League this year after playing in the
second tier Confederation Cup for over three years without
advancing to the group stages.
