Jurgen Klopp revealed Kolo Toure will be available to tackle
his former club Arsenal on Wednesday, while Mamadou
Sakho is pushing to be included in the Liverpool line-up.
The defensive duo are overcoming cramp and a minor knee
injury respectively, and both are back in training ahead of
the Premier League showdown at Anfield.
Martin Skrtel is still sidelined with a hamstring problem, but
Dejan Lovren’s recovery from the same issue has been
quicker than expected. Klopp will assess the risk of using
him ahead of schedule.
“The situation now is better than it was two or three days
ago because I think Kolo will be available, so we will have a
senior centre-back,” the Reds boss explained in his pre-
match briefing at Melwood.
“Mama wants to be available, hopefully we can use him and
then we’ll see.
"Martin is still a few weeks away and Dejan feels good but
the time of his injury was January 5 at Stoke, so it’s only
been six days until now and eight until Arsenal and United
will be 12.
“It’s close and there’ll be a moment when we have to decide
if it’s a risk, or if it’s a risk we could try. But it’s not the
moment for this and we have to wait.
“That’s the situation, so we will probably have Kolo and
Mama and the next one is Lucas [at centre-back].”
The 48-year-old also reported positive developments
regarding Jordon Ibe and Jordan Henderson. The winger
had a tight hamstring, while the captain had blood around
his heel due to a rupture and missed Liverpool's last three
games.
“Jordon Ibe, Jordan Henderson and Mama, who I spoke
about, are three [pieces of] good news,” he said.
