Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta insists the club
do not want to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay
Gundogan, despite having a €30 million bid for the Germany
international rejected.
However, Dortmund are understood to have no intention of
allowing Gundogan to leave midway through the season and
Marotta has now moved to distance the club from their
pursuit of the midfielder.
"Why would we go after Gundogan if we already have
Marchisio?" Marotta was quoted as saying by Tuttosport .
"We have a number of solutions in the area of the pitch, but
Gundogan is not one of the names we have been
discussing. Others have been linking him with Juventus.
"Plus I believe Dortmund do not want to sell him anyway."
Gundogan's contract expires in 2017 and it is understood
that Dortmund are keen to extend his deal.
