CHAN RE CAP: CAMEROON DOWN DR CONGO, ANGOLA GRAB FIRST WIN

CAMEROON 3-1 DR CONGO

Cameroon defeated DR Congo 3-1 to go atop Group C in an
African Nations Championship game played at the Stade
Huye, Butare.

Goals from Yazid Atouba, Samuel Nlend and Nicholas
Moumi helped the Indomitable Lions put an end to the
impressive run of the Congolese who got their consolation
through Jean Makusu.

A draw would have sent both sides through to the next round
but the battle for top spot brought the best from both teams
and the end of the game, it was the Cameroonians who
triumphed.

With this, the Indomitable Lions face Cote d’Ivoire in the
quarter final while Rwanda bid for a place in the semi final
against DR Congo.

ANGOLA 2-1 ETHIOPIA

Angola bowed out of the 2016 African Nations
Championship with a 2-1 defeat of Ethiopia on Monday
afternoon.

Both sides came into the game with no chance of making it
to the quarter final after failing to get a win in their first two
games. All that mattered was the bragging right and the
Palancras Negras got it.

After a goalless first half, Angola took the lead through Ary
Papel in the 53rd minute before adding the second while the
Walia Antelopes got their consolation through Tesfaye.
