Busquets names Yaya Toure as midfield role model

Sergio Busquets has revealed he looked up to Yaya Toure,
Patrick Vieira and Xavi as midfield role models and "learned
a lot" from the Manchester City midfielder.

Toure spent three years with Barcelona before moving to
England, often playing in a deeper role - and occasionally
even at centre-back - than he has become accustomed in
the Premier League.

That made him the ideal inspiration for a young Busquets,
who made his first-team debut in 2008 and was starting in a
Champions League final less than a year later.

"I didn't have a clear idol, but I looked at players with
tactical similarities," Busquets told Sport .

"I looked at Patrick Vieira, then Xavi and also Yaya Toure. I
have to say that I learnt a lot from Yaya."

Busquets is now 27 but has been praised for his continued
improvement year-on-year despite already having
established himself as one of Barcelona's most senior
players.

"I am very self-critical - maybe too much," he explained. "I
look at how the game has gone, what I did well, what I did
not so well, what I can do better.

"Also, I think [taking care] of the day-to-day things is
fundamental. In your social life you have to take care of
yourself as well as you can: rest well, train at top form, learn
from your team-mates, your manager.

"I hope to continue improving and maturing and to always
be one of the pillars of this Barca."
