Premier League side Watford have announced the signing of Nordin Amrabat from Malaga.
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder joins the club on a
three-and-a-half year deal for a reported fee of £6.1 million.
Born in the Netherlands, Amrabat represented the Dutch at
U21 level, but eventually decided to switch his allegiance to
Morocco.
He joined Malaga on loan in January 2014 from
Galatasaray, spending 18 months with the La Liga club
before making his move permanent last summer.
Prior to that he had played for Kayserispor and PSV, among
other clubs.
Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores has lauded his new
signing’s versatility and backed him to be a hit in England.
“He has the qualities of the players we like,” he said.
“He can play as a No.10, he can hold the ball up and he can
turn quickly with the strength of a striker and escape the
defensive line.
“He can also play as a winger because he has that pace and
velocity - the power that adds to the options of the team."
Amrabat will join up with his new team-mates after Monday
night’s game against Swansea City and will be available for
Newcastle United’s visit to Vicarage Road this weekend.
