FC Taraba had won their last two matches at home to both Kano Pillars and Sharks to revive their slender hope of staying in the elite division beyond this season but they were reduced to mere spectators in Nnewi after two second half goals nailed them against FC IfeanyiUbah.
FC IfeanyiUbah are on eighth on the log with 41 points from 28 matches while FC Taraba are 19th on the table with 26 points.
Giwa 1-0 Enyimba
The Jos-based side won the battle of the two elephants at the Rwang Pam Stadium on Sunday. They are the only team till date to have survived Enyimba’s onslaught this season. They managed to hold the People’s Elephant in Aba but they emerged victorious in Jos through a second half penalty kick converted by Charles Henlong.
Enyimba defender, Emmanuel Anyanwu was adjudged to have handled the ball in the vital area inside the last 20 minutes of the match and it was from there, Henlong scored the only goal.
The People’s Elephant are still first on the log with four points over closest rivals, Warri Wolves. They have 52 points on the log with 28 games while Giwa are fourth on the league table with 47 points.
El Kanemi Warriors 2-1 Lobi Stars
The Pride of Benue lost on their second trip to Katsina after they were beaten 2-1 by the Borno Army at the Karkanda Stadium on Sunday.
Lobi Stars had beaten Enugu Rangers 1-0 at the same turf last month to cruise to the final of the 2015 Federation Cup but they were unable to eke out a victory against El Kanemi Warriors.
El Kanemi are now on 36 points on the league table from 28 matches while Lobi slipped to 14th on the log with 34 points from as many matches.
Dolphins 2-0 Bayelsa United
Ebitimi Agogo and Wilson Andu’s goals were enough to hand crucial three points to the Pride of Rivers from the relegation zone against the Restoration Boys at the Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt on Monday.
Dolphins have moved to 16th on the log with 31 points from 28 matches while Bayelsa United must buckle up more if they do not want to avoid the dreaded drop. They are last on the log with 23 points from 28 games.
Wikki Tourists 3-1 Akwa United
Victor Yakubu’s double saved Wikki from home humiliation after they beat Akwa United 3-1 at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi on Sunday evening.
Ukeme Davies had initially leveled scores for the Promise Keepers before Yakubu put the Abdu Maikaba led Wikki side in the ascendancy.
Wikki are fourth on the log with 47 points from 28 matches while Akwa United have suddenly found themselves back in the relegation zone. They are presently 17th on the log with 31 points from as many matches.
Heartland 2-0 Enugu Rangers
The Naze Millionaires shook off their Oriental Brothers 2-0 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on Sunday night.
The game was held back from starting for several minutes after the home side protested the eligibility of Osas Okoro, Bobby Clement and Kalu Orji being their former players but have not been properly cleared from the Owerri side.
Heartland had their way as the players were not part of the Flying Antelopes’ squad. Rangers were humbled 2-0. Heartland are now seventh on the log with 41 points from 28 games.
3SC 2-1 Sunshine Stars
The Owena Waves have suffered setback in their quest to win the league title after their loss to the Oluyole Warriors in the South west Derby played on Sunday.
Just like the first leg in Akure, the return leg in Ibadan had its own fair share of crowd hooliganism after the supporters of the home clubs were alleged to have attacked the visitors’ supporters apparently in a reprisal attack to the one they witnessed earlier in the season.
Sunshine have slipped to third on the league table with 47 points from 28 matches while 3SC are ninth with 41 points from 28 games also.
Nasarawa United 1-1 Warri Wolves
The Seasiders stole another point in Lafia just like they did last season and they have risen to second on the league table with 48 points from 28 matches. They have displaced Sunshine Stars who have been in that position for most part of the season.
The Solid Miners have only garnered four points from their last four games both home and away since they beat Pillars in Kano some weeks ago. They smashed Kwara United 3-0 and drew 1-1 with Wolves but they were pinned 2-1 by 3SC and whipped 1-0 by Abia Warriors.
Nasarawa United are 11th on the log with 40 points from 28 matches.
Kwara United 1-0 Abia Warriors
The Harmony Warriors returned to winning ways at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin on Sunday. It was head coach, Tunde Abdulrahman’s first win since he returned to the helms after his unceremonious suspension during the first stanza.
Kwara United home win has aided their attempt to escape the drop zone at the end of the season. They are 15th on the log with 32 points from 28 matches.
Sharks 1-0 Kano Pillars
The Blue Angels scrapped through to a narrow margin win over the league reigning champions, Sai Masu Gida on Monday evening at the Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt.
Sharks’ Daniel Jackson’s solitary effort was more than enough to earn them a hard fought three points at the expense of the faltering champions.
The hosts still remain on 18th spot with 30 points from 28 matches while Pillars are 10th on the log with 40 points from 28 games.
