Nasarawa United eased past Heartland 2-0 at the Lafia Township Stadium to gain a precious three points in a NPFL Week 23 tie played on Sunday.
The Solid Miners were held to a goalless draw in the first half but they came out very forceful in the second half and their persistence paid off with Philip Azango and Shuaibu Babangida’s goals in the 46th and 48th minutes.
Heartland approached the game positively after their home loss to 3SC but they were repelled by the impressive defence of Nasarawa United.
Nasarawa United have moved to 33 points from 23 matches as a result of the win while Heartland on their part have stuttered in the race to qualify for the continent after their second consecutive loss since the start of the second stanza.
