Kano Pillars came from a goal down to beat Heartland 2-1 in Wednesday's Nigeria Professional Football League Week 21 match played at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
Goals from Azeez Shobowale and Rabiu Ali helped Mohammed Baba Ganaru's men earn a hard fought win against the visitors from Owerri.
The game started brightly for both sides, but Mohammed Mohammed's long range effort in the opening two minutes showed the hosts a glimpse of what to expect.
Pillars came close to nicking the crucial lead as Showbowale's clever low cross into the opponents' yard, but had no one to connect for goal in the 14th minutes.

Until the 41st minute, the home fans had their wait rewarded when Shobowale secured a vital 1-1 equaliser thanks to Adamu Hassan's assist and held on till the half time break.
In the second half, Mohammed came close to recovering the lead for Heartland, but his efforts were thwarted by Pillars back line.
It was Heartland that shot themselves in the leg in the 76th minute as Doyeni brought down Adamu Mohammed inside the box to concede a penalty.
Ali made no mistake converting from the penalty spot for the champions what stood as the winning goal as they kept their calm to seal another 2-1 home win.
