Once again, Seydou Keita refuses to shake Pepe's hand in Madrid-Roma friendly

The bad feeling between Keita and Pepe extends back to the Jose Mourinho & Pep Guardiola days

Former Barcelona player Seydou Keita has not forgotten the clásico matches he was involved in against Real Madrid during the Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola era. They were tough, intense matches, with plenty of underhand tactics employed.

During a Spanish Super Cup game in 2011, Keita clashed with Real Madrid's Portuguese defender Pepe, who was one of the biggest symbols of that Mourinho side. For Keita, it still represents a bad memory: At the time, he claimed that Pepe had called him "monkey".

For that reason, when Real Madrid and Roma played a friendly in the USA last year, he refused to shake Pepe's hand. And once again, one year later, history has repeated itself. Keita refused to shake Pepe's hand during Saturday's match in Australia.

After last season's friendly, Keita explained what had happend in a Twitter post: "One: [Pepe] calls me a monkey during Madrid-Barca," he wrote. "Two: I did not shake his hand. Three: He spits on me after I throw a bottle. I am sorry for my attitude.”
