360 Official: Sporting sign Teo

Teo llegó a tierra portuguesa

Sporting have confirmed the signing of Colombia andRiver Plate forward Teofilo Gutierrez on a three-year deal.

Jorge Jesus' side are believed to have agreed upon a fee of €1.7 million with the Argentine outfit for Teo's transfer earlier in July and, on Sunday, the Portuguese club revealed contract negotiations with the player had been completed.

"Sporting can announce that it has reached agreement with River Plate for the outright transfer of Teofilo Gutierrez,” the club stated on its official website.

"He signs a deal for three seasons with the option of another year and has a contract termination clause of €40m. Sporting wish the best professional and personal happiness for Teofilo Gutierrez."

Teo had a short-lived spell in Europe in 2010, spending a year with Trabzonspor until February 2011 when he ditched the Turkish side to return to Argentina with Racing Club.

Subsequent loans to Lanus and Junior were followed by a permanent switch to Mexico's Cruz Azul.

Once again, he failed to settle but he rediscovered his best form after joining River Plate in 2013, resulting in Colombia squad call-ups to World Cup 2014 and this year's Copa America.
