The 21-year-old finished last season as theEredivisie's top goalscorer with 22 goals andwas named the best youngster in the Netherlands, after earning a €30 million move to Old Trafford last month.
United boss Louis van Gaal has issued words of caution ahead of Depay's arrival, but Van Persie is eager to see how the forward adapts to a new league having made a similar move when joining Arsenal in 2004.
"I am looking forward to it," Van Persie told the club's official website. "I have been working with him for the last year or so with Holland, so I know him quite well.
"I am excited for him. He has made a big move to Manchester United and it will be interesting to see how he will do, and how he will take on this challenge."
The pair are currently on international duty with Netherlands before Depay links up with his new club officially on July 1.
