Totheham Target Martial signs new Monaco deal

The 19-year-old was targeted by Spurs this summer but has now extended his stay with the Ligue 1 club until 2019

Anthony Martial has extended his contract with Monacoafter being linked with Tottenham.

Spurs were keen on a move for the 19-year-old striker, although they were reluctant to pay more than €21 million.

But Martial, who scored eight goals in the final 12 Ligue 1 matches of the season, has now signed an extension to his contract with Monaco that will run until 2019.

Martial first cut his teeth with Lyon but left his first professional club for Stade Louis II two years ago for a fee of €5 million.

Since then, he has become a key member of Leonardo Jardim's side and has represented France at Under-21 level.
