The Netherlands international has ended all speculation about his future by signing a new three-year deal with the Serie A side
The experienced midfielder's previous deal was due to expire next week and there were question marks over whether he would stay at the San Siro outfit, with Schalke and his boyhood club Ajax showing an interest in signing him.
The 30-year-old joined Milan from Manchester City in the summer of 2012 and has since developed into a key player at the Rossoneri.
De Jong has made 90 appearances in all competitions for Milan so far, scoring seven goals in the process.
The holding midfielder came through the ranks of the famed Ajax youth academy and also wore the Hamburg jersey before signing for City in January 2009.
