Barcelona sack Vinyals as B-team coach

The 51-year-old took charge of the Blaugrana's second team in February but has been sacked after their relegation from the Segunda Division

Barcelona B coach Jordi Vinyals has been sacked, the club have announced.

Vinyals was in charge of the Juvenil A side before he replaced Eusebio Sacristan at the helm of the club's second team in February this year.

However, the 51-year-old failed to make an impact on the team as the finished bottom of the Segunda Division, nine points from safety.

And Barca have acted swiftly, dismissing Vinyals from his post.

"Barcelona coach Jordi Vinyals will not be in charge of Barca B next season," a statement on the club's official website read.

"The Club’s Technical Commission acknowledged the need to begin a new chapter in the club’s reserve team and has begun a period of reflection in order to restructure next season’s coaching staff.”
