The 28-year-old winger says he would be interested in a future switch to the US but says that a return to England is not currently a viable option
The duo played alongside each other on Merseyside during Babel's four-year spell with the club, with Gerrard having recently invited the former Ajax star to play in his charity fixture against a Jamie Carragher XI at Anfield back in March.
And now Babel, who is currently contracted to Turkish side Kasimpasa Spor Kulubu, has suggested he would be willing to move to MLS, and preferably with LA Galaxy, to be reunited with former England skipper Gerrard.
He told Goal: "America has always been a special place for me, since my youth. If it fits in with my career, it will be a challenge for me to play for a MLS team. If that would be Steven Gerrard's club, that would be very special.
When asked about a possible return to the Premier League, Babel refused to rule out a potential switch but insisted that he does not expect to be returning to England any time soon.
He added: "England is of course a great country to play in, and I'll always be open for a return. But it has to be a club I feel good about. The reality is that England won't happen at this moment."
