The secretary general of the Nigeria Football Federation, Dr. Sanusi Mohammed, irked by criticism of the NFF’s seeming lack of plans for the Super Falcons to play top friendly matches ahead of the World Cup, has pleaded for understanding.

He also urged critics to seek for information from the Federation to get clarification on issues they are not clear with.

"The reason why we couldn't get a Grade A friendly for the Super Falcons now is that they have two legged 2016 Olympics qualifiers against Mali which they ought to have played the first leg today (Saturday) (before the Mali team pulled out)  after which they will play the return leg. They are also expected to jet out to Canada on the 19th of this month for the final preparations for the World Cup.

"So where do those criticizing and blaming the NFF for not organizing friendly matches want us to fix those friendlies with these tight schedules?," Mohammed asked.
He, however, allayed fears on playing those friendlies which he told Goal has already been planned for by the Federation.

"The NFF, with all humility, knows its job and knows what to do to prepare the ladies for this all important assignment which is the World Cup. The Super Falcons have been playing against the U20 and even U23 men's club sides to toughen the team.

“Some of the people that watched such matches have been commending us for a job well done. The technical crew of the team is also happy with the quality of the teams the ladies have played against as well as the performance of the Falcons too.

"Beside this, the Super Falcons are scheduled to play quality friendly matches in Canada before the World Cup. That is part of the reasons why they are moving straight to Canada, venue of the competition on time to acclimatize and to also play quality friendly matches," he told Goal.
