Kanu tips Arsenal to retain FA Cup crown

The three-time winner has predicted that his former club would beat Aston Villa in Saturday's final to be played at the Wembley Stadium in London.

Nwankwo KanuFormer Arsenal striker Nwankwo Kanu has tipped the Gunners to successfully defend the FA Cup title when they tackle Aston Villa in the final on Saturday afternoon at the Wembley Stadium.

Arsenal defeated Hull City in last season's final and they are the firm favourites this term to win the title after some breathtaking performances on their way to the final.

The London club beat Manchester United at Old Trafford and outwitted Reading in the semi final to set a date with Villa.

On their part, Villa caused a major upset after eliminating Liverpool 2-1 in the last four.

Kanu won the competition thrice with Arsenal and Portsmouth respectively in 2002, 2003 and 2008.
He got the goals that earned Pompey a final ticket against West Brom and the eventual title against Cardiff City in the final in 2008.

Kanu said Arsenal have the wherewithal and the experience to beat Villa and that on current form the Gunners are more dangerous than their opponents.

"I will say Arsenal will beat Aston Villa because they are the better prepared side. The way they qualified for the final also indicated that they were not out for any showmanship.

It will be difficult for Villa to win,” Kanu told Goal.

"I am not only speaking as a fan or ex-player of Arsenal. I am looking at it from a football point of view.

“Arsenal have been playing very well and they even ended the season on a high with the 4-1 win over West Bromwich Albion.

“Aston Villa will struggle to cope with them on Saturday at Wembley Stadium," Kanu concluded.
