The ex-international believes with adequate preparation and right selection, Emmanuel Amuneke’s lads will successfully defend the Fifa U17 Championship title in Chile.
Former Nigeria goalkeeper, Abiodun Baruwa is in no doubt that Nigeria U17 team are capable of defending their world title at this year’s edition in Chile.
The Golden Eaglets dethroned Mexico to win a record fourth title in 2013 at the United Arab Emirates and would be gunning for their fifth crown in the South American nation.
Emmanuel Amuneke’s side are tipped by many to struggle at this summer's tournament, after the Nigeria U17 team finished fourth at the 2015 African U-17 Championship in Niger.
But Baruwa, who has a Level Two certificate in coaching as well as a Level One certificate goalkeeping coaching from the English FA is adamant that the lads are capable of succeeding in South America, given the experience their handler.
“We should. There is nothing stopping us. Take that right players and everyone will come onboard to support the team all through,” Baruwa told Goal.
“I didn't know the team but for sure I know Amuneke is winner because I have played with him and I know how passionate he can be to find and get a result.
“With this, I am sure he will turn everything around from their last performance before the World Cup tournament,” he concluded.
This year’s edition will be the 16th edition of the competition and will span between October 17 – November 8, 2015.
