The striker was delighted to score the winner against Villarreal and accepts it was a tough game for Diego Simeone's side.
The former Liverpool star capitalised on a mistake from Eric Bailly on 74 minutes to score the only goal of the game at El Madrigal, after coming on as a substitute midway through the second half.
With the champions now seven points ahead of fifth-placed Valencia - having played a game more - Torres is confident that Atleti will qualify for Europe's top tournament again.
"Today, we had a lot of the ball but we didn't create chances and they seemed comfortable," the striker said to Canal Plus after the match.

"The goal means our objective for next season is much closer. It's important to qualify for next season's Champions League. The sooner, the better.
"You always want to contribute more. We all have to demand more from ourselves."
